Ludwig Pioneer snare in white marine pearl, pre-serial model from 1961-63. Holy smokes, this is one beautiful looking snare! The WMP wrap has aged to a mellow cream colour and looks stunning. These six-lug models are very light, and while you don't get the same accuracy in tuning than with an eight or ten lug snare, they have a lovely open, warm tone with a singing fundamental note. The chrome has aged a little, but it's in pretty reasonable condition overall. This is a great vintage Ludwig snare with that classic vintage warmth that's so sought after.

Manufacturer: Ludwig
Model:  Pioneer Snare Drum
Size: 14" x 6.5"
Lugs: 6
Year: 1961-63 (pre-serial)
Made in: Chicago, USA

Shell construction: 3 ply mahogany-poplar-mahogany, maple reinforcement rings, painted white inner ply
Hoops: Triple flanged
Mods: resonant side hoop may have been replaced

Condition notes: No major scratches or dings. Shell is in round. Chrome is in fair condition with some noticeable aging. There's a little bit of rust on the badge, but none on the hoops, butt plate or throw. Throw-off and internal dampener work fine. There's a reasonable dent in the batter hoop, as pictured, but it doesn't seem to affect the tuning  stability. Tunes up easily, no issues with lugs or tension rods. Overall: good condition.
