(SOLD) Gibson SG '61 Reissue Heritage Cherry 2008
Gibson '61 SG, cherry red, made in USA 2008. For many moons, the '61 style SG was Gibson's top-of-the-line SG model before you hit their Custom Shop offerings. It's a classy thing: classic curves, rich mahogany body and neck, swish thin nitro cherry finish... it has the look exactly down pat. This one balances nicely in the hands, which is a marvel: it's 2.9kg; light as a feather. The tone is dark and warm, fitting for the genre: the neck pickup growls and gurgles with a thick swampy punch, while the bridge pickup snarls and snaps and offers plenty of body to animate your chords perfectly. This one has the original case and docs and is in admirable shape for a guitar built to riff with abandon. An SG should be fun, and this definitely is.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has dimples on the end, some scuffs on the front around the posts and inlays and a small chip in the top corner. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has light scuffs near the front strap pin, middle of the body and around the electronics cavity, as well as dimples in the elbow area and back edge. The sides have dimples in the elbow area, a dent on the bottom edge near the bridge tone control as well as some scuffs in that area, and a dent and some light scuffs on the bottom horn. The front has dimples in the elbow area, near the rear strap pin and near the knobs, and some standard play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
